Selecting the Right Tire Changer for Your Bay

The right machine comes down to the wheels you work on and the power you have in your garage.

Rim Size: Check the biggest rim you run. The FTC-1660 clamps rims up to 24 inches, the FTC-1670 and FTC-T2 go up to 28 inches, and the FTC-6700 handles up to 42 inches.

Power Supply: The FTC-1660 and FTC-1670 can run on 110V single phase. The leverless FTC-T2 and FTC-T8 need a 220V single phase line, and the FTC-6700 needs 3-phase power.

Air Supply: The FTC-1660, FTC-1670, and FTC-T2 run on 116 to 145 psi of shop air, so make sure your compressor can keep up.

Protecting Your Rims

A tire changer should never be the reason a wheel gets scratched.

Rim Protection: The FTC-1660 and FTC-1670 use plastic covers on the working head, jaws, and bead breaker to keep metal off the rim.

Leverless Operation: On the FTC-T2 and FTC-T8, the hook head works with the hydraulic system so no crowbar touches the wheel. That matters most on low profile, run-flat, and expensive aftermarket rims.
